Warrior Citra Pilsner
For anyone following this 2 hop series this would be homebrew #23 in this series. For me this is 23-2 as I want to see how good of an IPA we can make with just Warrior and Citra hops. This first one is just using the base malt. With hop times I think that would work. Recipe for this small batch:
2 LBS 8 oz 2-Row
.15 oz Warrior @ 60 mins
.25 oz Citra @ 10 mins
.25 oz Citra @ 5 mins
US-05 Yeast
.25 oz Citra Dry hop 3 Days
Color: Looks more like what 2-Row should look like. Golden Yellow
Smell: Tropical fruit. Sweet Passion fruit with a hint of pine
Taste: Passion Fruit with a hint of pine. Toasted malt
Overall: It needs more body. Using only pilsner malt it should be thin. Good fruity passion fruit taste.
Color: Golden yellow some haze
Smell: Hop Fruit(peach mango) some bitterness
Taste: Hint of malt. Taste kind of old hint of fruit big bitterness. You get the fruit but the bitterness is taking over
Overall: I dont think the pilsner malt is holding up on its own to the high IBUs. The bitterness is in this beer but I was thinking it would be bigger.
