Cascade Centennial Cherry Wood Malt
This is the forth beer in our 2 hop series. This takes the base cascade and centennial and adds cherry wood smoked malt. With the cascade having some floral I was thinking the wood might fit in. Also you might get some cherry/fruit. As this was the forth beer I wanted to keep the amount of the base malt the same then add the cherry wood malt on top of that. Here is the recipe I used. This was for a 1.25 gallons going into the carboy.
2 LBS 4 oz 2-Row
4 oz Cherry Wood Smoked malt
.25 oz Cascade 60 mins
.25 oz Centennial 10 mins
.25 oz Cascade 5 mins
.25 oz of both 3 days into fermentation
US-05 Yeast
Color: Bright yellow little haze
Smell: Floral with a hint of sweet malt. Not getting a fruit or wood smell
Taste: hint of smoke and wood. Fresh floral with a hint of toasted bread. Im picking up on something in the back but not sure what it is. Could be the wood smoke.
Overall: Good homebrew as of now. I was not thinking I would get big cherry but I was hoping we would get some or fruit.
