Centennial Cascade FWH Late Hops

This is beer 10 in our 2 hop series. This takes the base Centennial Cascade and moves the late addition hops to smash out. In first wort hopping you want to take the late hop additions and use them in the mash out. Here is the recipe I used. This was for a 1.25 gallons going into the carboy.

2 LBS 4 oz 2-Row

.25 oz Centennial 60 Min

.25 oz Cascade FWH

.25 oz Centennial FWH

.25 oz of both 3 days into fermentation

US-05 Yeast

Color: Bright yellow NE IPA in color

Smell: Citrus floral with some sweet malt. Almost a lemon lime floral

Taste: The flavors are smooth. Lemon lime citrus with some floral. Big bitterness on this one. After taste is a sweet citrus floral.

Overall a good beer. Lots of bitterness in this beer. I wish the floral was a little less but thats what your going to get with Cascade hops.

Tasting 3

Color: Bright yellow

Smell: Floral citrus not that big as I was thinking it was going to be

Taste: Grapefruit lemon grass. Sweet malt

Overall: Grapefruit might be from the bitterness. Taste is like a high IBU beer.

Tasting 4

Color: Bright yellow

Smell: Hint of malt and citrus. Sweet honey lemon

Taste: Big citrus with lots of bitterness

Overall: Not sure why we are getting lots of bitterness out of this one. This homebrew does need more hops to balance out the bitterness
