This Smash beer is using Cascade hops and Vienna malt. Recipe is the following
2 LBs Vienna Malt
.39 oz Cascade 30 mins
.29 oz Cascade 5 mins
.32 oz Dry hops (3 days)
US-05 Yeast
I wanted to use some different malts with cascade so we could see what malts we liked. Most of notes on this homebrew with be in the video with the Pilsner and 2-Row malt.
This vienna version finished at 5.94% ABV
Color: Orange hazy. Lots of bubbles
Smell: Sweet vs the others ones. Toasted smell. Nothing on the hop side. The malt takes over.
Taste: Toasted malt, light body. I think the body is from the 150 mash in. Still not getting any of the hops in the taste. Its missing something. Doesnt taste like a balanced beer.
Tasting 2
Color: Light yellow not as bright as the 2-Row
Smell: Toasted malt upfront with some floral
Tasting: Toasted bread citrus bitterness in the back. Taste like a balanced beer
Overall: I think this one the best out of the 3. That toasted bread adds an extra layer to this homebrew.
Tasting 3
Color: Light brown
Smell: Big sweet malt with some floral and citrus
Tasting: The floral citrus helps cut the malt sweetness. Some bitterness
Overall: The floral citrus turns me off but Im not a big floral fan.
