Sorachi Ace Vienna SMaSH
I wanted to brew a small batch with hops and a malt that I have not used before. Sorachi Ace is a hop that I have not used in a home brew. I have use Sorachi Ace with white wheat and I did like that so lets make it with Vienna and see what we get. Here is the recipe I used for this small batch beer(1.25 gallons into the carboy)
2 LBs 4 oz Vienna
.25 oz Sorachi Ace @30 mins
.25 oz Sorachi Ace @5 mins
.25 oz Sorachi Ace 3 days for dry hop
US-05 yeast
Color: Orange Yellow. With the SRM being higher with Vienna I can see this color
Smell: Did not smell
Tasting: Sour big lemon dill with toasted bread.
Overall: I wouldnt drink this one. I couldnt finish this. I hope age helps this one
Tasting 2
Color: Bright yellow. Some haze
Smell: Lemon Citrus. No dill.
Tasting: I dont like it. Lemon citrus heavy with a hint of dill.
Overall: Not one that I would make more of. The lemon citrus doesnt play well with the Vienna malt as of right now. I think the big citrus lemon is going down but its still big
