Warrior Centennial IPA
For anyone following this 2 hop series this would be homebrew #21 in this series. For me this is 21-1 as I want to see how good of an IPA we can make with just Warrior and Centennial hops. This first one is just using the base malt. With hop times I think that would work. Recipe for this small batch:
2 LBS 8 oz 2-Row
.15 oz Warrior @ 60 mins
.25 oz Centennial @ 10 mins
.25 oz Centennial @ 5 mins
US-05 Yeast
.25 oz Centennial Dry hop 3 Days
7.33% ABV
Color: Hazy lemon yellow. Lots of bubbles in this one
Smell: Hint of lemon citrus with some pine. I think the pine is from the Warrior as I was not getting that pine in the other 2 hop beers using cascade and centennial.
Taste: Lemon grass citrus with some pine in back. Hint of malt in the after taste.
Overall: Ok beer. It needs more malt. The taste is not what I want it to taste like for an IPA. I think an IPA brings more malt than this one. Maybe some C20 or C40 would help.
Tasting 2
Color: Bright yellow. Some haze
Smell: Big citrus lemon. Low bitterness. Im getting some tart
Taste: Malt, hop bitterness almost like its covering up the lemon citrus
Taste: Good beer for the summer is you like some bitterness in you homebrew. The lemon citrus is a little over done in this beer. I also think it needs a little more malt back bone.
